This basket is part of my ongoing study of the construction of rare antique Nantucket baskets. Each basket presented the original maker with a creative challenge. This basket has a flared rim which evokes a flower. The basket presented several challenges from designing the mold to attaching the rims and fitting the carved curved wood ears. The variation in the dark nutty color is a result of using recycled, natural 40 to 60 year old cane. 11.5" high with the handle up.
